E-Commerce Giant Opens Largest Automated Warehouse in Region
The new facility uses robotics and AI sorting to process over 500,000 packages per day with a significantly reduced workforce.
A leading e-commerce operator has inaugurated its largest automated fulfilment centre in the region, a 180,000 square metre facility capable of processing more than 500,000 packages per day using a dense network of robotic picking, sorting, and packing systems.
The warehouse employs 1,200 people in oversight, maintenance, and logistics coordination roles — roughly a quarter of what a comparable manual operation would require — reigniting debate about automation's impact on regional employment.
The company said the centre will serve as the hub for two-hour delivery services across a metropolitan area of four million people, a capacity it plans to replicate in three additional locations within two years.
