New Airport Terminal Opens Ahead of Summer Travel Season
The expanded facility adds 12 million annual passenger capacity and includes a dedicated rail connection to the city centre.
The country's busiest airport has opened its new international terminal, adding 12 million annual passenger capacity and bringing online a long-awaited direct rail link to the city centre that reduces travel time from the airport to the main station to 22 minutes.
The terminal, which took six years to build at a cost of €3.4 billion, features biometric processing for departures, a central security hub designed to eliminate queuing bottlenecks, and a rooftop solar installation covering 40% of the building's energy requirements.
Airlines have already allocated additional services to the new terminal, with summer capacity expected to exceed last year's peak by 18%.
