Professional Cycling Tour Introduces New Anti-Doping Protocols
The governing body has announced mandatory longitudinal biological passport tracking and real-time whereabouts monitoring for all Tour participants.
The governing body of the sport's premier stage race has announced a strengthened anti-doping framework for this year's edition, including mandatory longitudinal biological passport tracking for all registered riders and real-time whereabouts monitoring during the entire race period.
The measures also include an expanded list of targeted substances following advances in detection chemistry and a requirement for all team physicians to undergo independent certification in sports medicine ethics.
The changes come in response to recommendations from an independent commission convened after a doping case from the previous edition was found to have exposed inadequacies in the existing protocol, several of which were attributed to jurisdictional gaps in test coverage.
